Ornamental Horticulture Assurance Scheme (OHAS) Certification Scheme (formerly BOPP) is a grower specialist group of the HTA, raising standards, providing quality assurance and ensuring the highest standards within the ornamental horticulture sector. Westland have been OHAS certified since 2008. As a OHAS member Westland receive an annual inspection, providing our customers with complete confidence in both our product and service. The scheme also ensures that our business is up to date with latest legislation and best practice.

Sedex is a global membership organisation dedicated to making it simpler to do business that is good for everyone. It is one of the world’s largest collaborative platforms that enables it’s members to manage and improve their performance around labour rights, health and safety, the environment and business ethics. Westland are members of Sedex. It has four production sites that are listed in Sedex and they each undergo a SMETA (Sedex Members Ethical Trade Audit) annually to promote transparency in the supply chain leading to its final customers. A SMETA requires a member to demonstrate that it meets all local, national and global legislation to prove it is operating responsibly in the areas of:
- The environment
- Health and safety
- Labour and human rights
Westland’s Quality and Environmental Management Systems are ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2015 certified for processing and packaging of horticultural products.
Westland are members of ‘The Horticultural Trades Association’ (HTA). The trade association for the UK garden industry and members of the GMA. The GMA is concerned with the development, production, marketing and sale of growing media and soil improvers in the UK and Ireland and the ingredients used to manufacture these products.
